But he will not leave FNC. Citing unnamed sources, the Washington Post reported on its website late Tuesday afternoon that Hume, 65, is near a deal to shift to a lighter work sked for the cabler. Hume will also relinquish his duties as Washington managing editor. Per the deal, Hume would occasionally anchor special events, serve as a political analyst and substitute as host for "Fox News Sunday" whenever regular host Chris Wallace is away. According to the Post report, Fox News chairman Roger Ailes has not yet decided on a replacement anchor for "Special Report" or even whether the program would continue. A Fox News Channel spokesman declined to comment on the report.
